Could you tell us a little bit about your background before becoming a nutrition professional?
I graduated from University in 2002 with a Media Studies degree, but my first ‘real’ job was working for an oil brokers in London’s West End. From here I moved to another broking firm, then to a trading company and eventually into investment banking working in a support role on the trading desks. I did this for 12 years but I spend the last 5 years of it studying part time to become a Nutritional Therapist. I finally qualified in 2013 and have been a full time Nutritional Therapist for just over a year now. I joined the SuperWellness team of corporate nutritionists last Summer, because I am passionate about helping people who work in corporate jobs to be healthy in a fun and simple way that fits in with their busy and demanding lifestyles. My health suffered whilst I worked in the corporate world and I want to help prevent others from going through the same thing – it IS possible to have both a demanding career and great health!
How did you come to be interested in nutrition and go on to study for your qualification?
My own health issues and weight struggles brought my attention to nutrition and how powerful it can be at transforming a person’s health (and weight!). I had started to read more and more book on nutrition, sorted my health issues out using the advice I was reading coupled with the advice from a qualified Nutritional Therapist, and then decided that I just HAD to go on to study this all in full and eventually change my career to one I would find more rewarding and be passionate about.
